My current work, Nothing Random Access Memory (Nothing RAM), is centered around a large scale time based triptych. Part One: Miracles in Reverse, takes the form of a multimedia performance and an interactive DVD-ROM. Part Two: Points of View is an installation of faux windows. Part Three: The Gabriel Frequency (previously titled 29 SpaceTime) takes the form of a multimedia performance with panoramic interactive visuals and live music. All of these works have been presented at various venues such as The Kitchen, Roulette, Lincoln Center, and MoMA (all in NYC), and REDCAT (Disney Center, LA), among others. There are also related artworks which augment the mediated installations and performances. These related works include two 'word art' and photo-based installations, a series of digital paintings and photo pieces. A large animatronic bat is currently in the design stage. Documentation of these works can be found in the Visual Art tab. This visual artwork hasn't been shown yet and is seeking presentation space and support.
29 SpaceTime/The Gabriel Frequency, a multimedia performance was made in collaboration with Perry Hoberman. In this live performance, Hoberman plays a scientist, the clone of Dr. Jolly West, while Heyward plays the mystical character Archangel Gabriel. This work looks at many world views and beliefs through interrogations of Jesus, Eve, a clown, an old Christian woman, a conspiracy theorist, the niece of Aldous Huxley and Heyward. Interactive panoramic visuals are triggered and controlled by an iPad held by Heyward. This part of the triptych is the wide shot, looking at trauma embedded in our collective narratives and beliefs.
The performance version of Miracles in Reverse premiered at The Kitchen in New York, with music by Heyward and Don Christensen, Michael Kott, and Dwight Loop. Performing with Heyward were Mimi Goese and Rebecca Moore, with choreography by Goese and visuals created by Heyward. Miracles in Reverse was also presented in Europe.
